{May 6, 2008}   Austin

Wow! Well, needless to say Kathy and I had one HECK of a time in Austin. Firstly, we had fun listening to old songs and jamming the entire way down there. I even found a treasure of a cd that Kathy has. Called Splashing something or another. This cd is my anthem! “Hot Hot Hot” “Cocomo” “Lime in the Coconut” “If you like Pina Colada” etc. Ohhhh it was fun! (Def Leopard, Poison…oohhh the long haired boy bands of the 80′s)

We get there we stop at the University and desparately look for a bathroom! Needless to say, after the long drive, we REALLY needed that bathroom! lol Then we walked to get something to eat, shop and take lots of pics.

Then we drove like crazy people to the hills. All I have to say is thank GOD Austin does NOT get snow. Those roads would be treacherous! Because, we were alllll over them. lol Her poor car was trying soooo hard to get up some of those hills. Ugh ( I think I can I think I can I think I can) All we wanted was a good view, a little lake time and bragging rights! Oh well! We had fun trying!

We then made our way to the 6th Street area. After we parked and obtained change from a very nice man (after which I thought…”wow people in Austin are really nice”). We then proceeded to walk down 5th street to find Colorado street. On our way, a homeless drugged out young female was crying in the corner of a building. She asked me for my cell phone. She was scarey, so I kept walking. Wellllll, needless to say, she did not like that. AT ALL! She threw her dirty funky pink sandal at us. We kept walking and Kathy said “Woa. Did she throw that at us?”. I just told her to keep walking and go go go! Well, Annie (I affectionately call her addict Annie from Austin, because after this exchange I felt she deserved a name), started cussing B**** this and B**** that and MFB this and MFB that! So we kept walking trying to stay clam. Well actually I was trying to stay calm. Kathy was oblivious to what was going on.  Then she started screaming how she was going to beat the S*** out of me and that I need to stop talking and grinning because I am gonna be sorry! Then she said she was right behind us! Continuing with the serenade of affectionate threats and loving words. She then advised us that she was 10 feet away from us. So after maybe 3 more steps (figuring she was closer than 10 feet at this time) I turned around and she walked about 2 more steps and lundged at me! Shortly after that, Annie started walking away from me. (Probably because I started whipping out the gangs signs and threatening to call my peeps in. haha j/k) As she was walking away she advised me that I deserved to be raped! Niiiccceee! Now she went too far! So Kathy and I walked behind here and was ready to …..duck inside the nearest building…but she beat us into the bar! grrrrrrrrrrr. So we coolly went to an aveda salon and then into Sullivans. Fweeww!

Once we got into Sullivan’s (knees shaking) we asked the cocktail waitress if they had a problem with homeless people. Precisely at that moment, someone came walking up to their windows (ceiling to floor blinds no-one can see in or out) and banged either stones or a stick on the windows. At this point, I started to feel that I had become a magnet for Austin’s finest! sigh! We stayed there for about 1.5 hours. (partly because we liked the atmosphere and partly because we feared for our lives) Then ventured out! Cautiously! Of course Kathy was a bit liquored up and was feeling PRETTY GOOD and invinsable! I had to reel her in. I did not need another run in with Annie or any other dragrats!

We then went to the Driskell, where we learned that the hotel is haunted and is known as the most haunted hotel in Texas. OOOOOOOoOoOoOoOh! So, of course we took pictures, went to the 4th floor (site of hauntings) and took a picture near the 13th room! (cue slimer from the “Ghostbusters” ….”I feel so funky!”)

We then went to the capital building and took a picture of GWB …just for fun! Well, and to blow up poster size and use as a “pin the tail on the donkey” game! lol

On our way back…we could not find a public/functioning restroom. So we drove and drove and drove! Almost hit and run off the road by man watching his dvd t.v. screen thing, then we missed our pass, detoured in Baptist country, drove and drove, got pulled over…got a ticket (bastard) and finally made it home! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Home sweet..non-annie-home!

Stay tuned for more stories from Texas!
